Deb Ramsay-Trease NAPA

My practice is grounded in a long-standing engagement with the arts, shaped initially by a BA (Hons) in 3D Design and later revitalised when I relocated to Cornwall in 2017. The region’s dramatic coastline and expansive moorlands reignited my commitment to painting and have since become the foundation of my creative life.

Working with acrylic paint, and at times incorporating mixed media, I explore the landscapes of West Cornwall through both plein air and studio-based approaches. Painting outdoors allows me to respond directly to the shifting light, weather, and atmosphere that define this ancient landscape. When the Cornish elements are less forgiving, my studio—situated between Penzance and St Ives, close to the moors—provides an equally inspiring environment in which to develop and refine my work. I paint on canvas, paper, and board, seeking to distil the essence of place into expressive, tangible forms.

My paintings have been acquired by collectors across the UK, Europe, the USA, and Canada. I am an Associate Member of the Penwith Gallery, St Ives, where I exhibit regularly, and my work has been selected numerous times for the Open Exhibitions at the St Ives Society of Artists. I have also shown work at The Crypt Gallery (St Ives), Tremenheere Gallery (Penzance), PZ Gallery (Penzance), The Falmouth Poly, and the Aubergine Art Gallery (Wimbledon). Most recently, I held a successful solo exhibition at The Salthouse Gallery, St Ives.

In 2025, I completed the Professional Landscape Programme at the Newlyn School of Art, further deepening my connection to the Cornish landscape and my commitment to contemporary landscape acrylic painting.
