Clive Patterson NAPA

Clive has had a passion for painting the world around him since his early school days. During holidays, he learned to paint landscapes with his father, a skill he continued to develop over time. This enduring interest led him to pursue an art degree at Manchester College of Art & Design, which set the foundation for his early career as a product designer. Later, he successfully ran a commercial company, where he applied his creativity and patented many new products.

After retirement, Clive's enthusiasm for painting landscapes remained strong. He honed his skills at a local art school and now devotes himself to painting full-time in his studio in St Albans. Most of Clive's artwork is created using acrylic paint, which allows for a wide range of techniques. He particularly enjoys the quick drying time of acrylics, enabling him to use an intuitive multi-layering approach in his work.

His paintings depict landscapes through an abstract lens, presenting the subject not as a realistic representation but as an aesthetic composition of shapes, colours, and textures.

Clive has exhibited his work in galleries across the country, including several times at the Mall Gallery, participating in shows with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) and others. He is currently a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association.
