Alan Moore NAPA

I first started painting in acrylic paints when I was a student in my teens. I have always had an interest in capturing the world in a geometric, abstract style and as a colourist, acrylic paint has always been my preferred medium. Its versatility and vibrancy, and its flexibility around colour, mixing, and drying is just perfect for my style of creativity.

My experience in the arts stretches over a long-term period, beginning with painting and exhibiting as a student in the 1970s. I continued to paint when circumstances allowed over the duration of a career in finance, and supported the arts in that time as both a sponsor and a collector. I returned to painting full-time with a renewed vigour in 2012, and was represented by the Rhubarb Tree Gallery in Port Solent, Portsmouth from 2015 - 2017. I have since been based in my own studio in Cowes, Isle of Wight, where I continue to paint today.

In recent years I have successfully painted and exhibited, and also a member of a collective of 35 artists that regularly meet and exhibit on the Isle of Wight.  More recently I have exhibited at the 2024 Annual Open Exhibition of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in Sidmouth, The 'Artivist' Exhibition at Gallery Grounds in Southampton, and featured regularly in exhibitions at the Fox Yard Studios in Stowmarket, and the Mead Gallery at Monkton Arts in Ryde, Isle of Wight. In 2025 I was short-listed for the Monkton Arts Prize and have just been short-listed in the CCA Galleries Emerging Artist Awards 2026, where I will have work exhibited in April and May.
